RIGA, May 20 (LETA) - On Friday evening, about 5,000 people gathered in Riga for the march against Soviet-era monuments, according to the State Police.

LETA observed that the event was started, signing Latvian anthem by the Freedom Monument. Many of the participants were carrying Latvian national flags, and there were also Ukrainian flags visible.

The march stretched for more than one kilometer in length - when the first people were approaching the Victory Park, the last participants were still near the Riga City Town Hall.
