There is no ethnic conflict in Latvia right now - Pabriks

RIGA, May 12 (LETA) - At present there is no ethic conflict in Latvia between Latvians and Russians, but it is a political conflict between two perspectives of the world, said Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development) in an interview with the Latvian public television today.

Pabriks said that the event by the Soviet-era monument in Pardaugava on May 9-10 did not pose any threat to the national security, however, it is clear that there is a large part of the society that does not accept Latvia as an independent state.
