Teachers' trade union promises protest campaigns if teachers' demands are ignored

RIGA, May 20 (LETA) - If teachers' demands are not taken into account, the Latvian Trade Union of Education and Science Workers (LIZDA) will organize protest campaigns in September, LETA learned from the trade union.

LIZDA said that problems are not being solved efficiently, and it is reflected in the large number of vacancies in schools, overburden and professional burnout of teachers. Therefore LIZDA notes that failure to solve the problems of workload and competitive wages will serious affect education quality, availability and will cause additional expenses in the state social insurance and health care budget.
