Stevedores Remove Last Remaining Coal From Eksportosta Port and Relocate to Krievu Island - Riga Freeport

RIGA, March 11 (LETA) - The last remaining coal at Eksportosta Port in Riga was moved to Krievu Island on Sunday, March 10, therefore all stevedores have now relocated from Eksportosta Port to Krievu Island, the Freeport of Riga Authority's representative Inga Sabovica told LETA.

Eksportosta Port is now being cleaned up. Two stevedoring companies that worked at the port, Strek and Riga Coal Terminal, have removed all coal from the port by the March 11 deadline, as the two companies had agreed with the Freeport of Riga.

From now on, all coal cargos that arrive at the Riga port will be shipped to terminals in Krievu Island, and no coal handling operations will take place in the center of Riga.
