Retail trade turnover up 4.9% in April

RIGA, May 27 (LETA) - Calendar adjusted data at constant prices compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau show that, compared to April 2021, in April 2022 total retail trade turnover increased by 4.9 percent.

Turnover of retail trade in food products grew by 3.2 percent. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) increased by 9.5 percent, while turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel reduced by 3.9 percent.

s compared to April 2021, the largest turnover rise was registered in retail sale of clothing, footwear and leather goods (of 72.7 percent), retail sale of cultural and recreation goods (37.4 percent) and retail sale of cosmetics and toiletries (14.1 percent).

Turnover drop was registered in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 14.6 percent), retail sale in stalls or markets (8.1 percent) and retail sale of electrical household appliances in specialized stores (6 percent).

Total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 20.4 percent, not taking into account the calendar influence.
