Removal of ammonia cargo from Freeport of Ventspils to begin this weekend - ministry

RIGA, May 6 (LETA) - The removal of ammonia cargo from the Freeport of Ventspils will begin this weekend, the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry's Public Relations Department informed LETA.

During a meeting on Friday, the ministry and other parties involved discussed the removal of the liquefied ammonia cargo from the Freeport of Ventspils. The State Environmental Service expects ships to enter the port and cargo to be loaded onto the ships this weekend.

Environmental Protection and Regional Development Minister Arturs Toms Pless (Development/For) emphasizes that currently all the necessary permissions from state authorities and the Ventspils Freeport Authority, which are necessary or will be required when the cargo is removed, have been either received or will be received when the ships enter or leave the port.
