Prosecution Dissatisfied With Girss' Acquittal of Incitement to Ethnic Hatred

RIGA, March 6 (LETA) - The prosecution has appealed the court ruling acquitting Illarions Girss, the former leader of radical pro-Russia organization Russkaya Zarya (Russian Dawn), of incitement to ethnic hatred, LETA learned.

Velga Luka, an aide to the chief judge of Kurzeme District Court, explained that the Kurzeme regional prosecutor's office lodged an appeal against the verdict with Kurzeme Regional court.

Aiga Laugale, an adviser to Kurzeme Regional Court, told LETA that the court had received the case but a decision on its hearing was yet to be taken.

Last December, the Kurzeme district court in Liepaja found Illarions Girss, the former leader of Russkaya Zarya (Russian Dawn) pro-Russia group in Latvia, not guilty of...
