Police launch three criminal proceedings and 20 administrative proceedings following May 10 events at Soviet-era monument in Riga

RIGA, May 12 (LETA) - Following the events at the monument to Soviet soldiers in Riga's Pardaugava on May 10, the State Police have started three criminal proceedings and 20 administrative proceedings, as the State Police told LETA.

Two criminal proceedings have been started in accordance with the Criminal Law's section that deals with justification of crimes against humanity, crimes against peace and justification of war crimes. One of these cases was initiated against a young man showing up at the monument with the Russian flag. Both cases will be referred to the State Security Service.

One criminal case was initiated according to the Criminal Law's provision on resisting the police.
