RIGA, May 4 (LETA) - The State Police (VP) does not currently have any information about any potential provocations on May 9 at the so-called Victory Monument in Pardaugava and elsewhere in Latvia, the chief of the VP Armands Ruks admitted to LETA.

ccording to him, the police do not currently have specific information about any provocations, but the situation may change and the risk of provocations may increase as May 9 approaches. The police also have no information about the possible arrival of any provocateurs from abroad.

lthough some people have expressed a more cardinal opinion about the celebration of May 9 and laws do not prohibit the individual laying of flowers at monuments, Ruks urged the public to understand that this year is not the same as previous years, as Russian propaganda may use this date to justify its war in Ukraine.
