PM urges National Alliance and Development/For not to delay nomination of new ministers

Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) on Tuesday called on the National Alliance and Development/For not to delay the nomination of ministerial candidates.

It is essential to ensure that the government can continue work with all vacant ministerial positions filled, the prime minister said following a government meeting.

Karins also said at the news conference that judging from Tuesday's government meeting, the government is stable and coalition partners are working towards a common goal.

With regard to the post of interior minister, the Economics Ministry's Parliamentary Secretary Ilze Indriksone (National Alliance) has been unofficially named as a potential candidate for Latvia's next economics minister. Indriksone, however, has been reserved in her comments on her possible nomination and said she would prefer Janis Vitenbergs (National Alliance) to carry on as economics minister.
