PM tasks ministries with working out comprehensive and targeted benefit system by mid-June

RIGA, May 25 (LETA) - Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) has instructed the Welfare Ministry to work out in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy, Finance, the Interior and Environmental Protection and Regional Development a comprehensive and targeted system of social benefits by mid-June, LETA was told at the State Chancellery.

The prime minister issued the resolution because he had hot received a proposal on how to improve the social benefit system. The proposal that has to be submitted to the government by mid-June is meant to help least protected groups of people cope with rising inflation and high energy prices.

The prime minister believes that the new system of targeted benefits should be introduced by September...
