RIGA, May 12 (LETA) - The people who gathered by the occupant monument have not understood which country and century they live in, said Latvian President Egils Levits in a video comment about the events in Pardaugava on May 9-10.

The president said that these people are physically in Latvia but mentally in "the Russian world", lagging behind and thinking in the category of the 20th and 19th centuries. He added that it is not just Latvia where such people live. There is the same thinking observed also in other European countries, for example, Germany.

Levits said that all Latvians and patriots of Latvia, regardless of nationality, must loudly, clearly and directly tell and demonstrate that they stand for the Constitution and the values of Latvia and Europe, that they stand with Ukraine, not Russia as an aggressor country.
