Pavluts emphasized that when selecting a candidate for the vacant position of the Minister of the Interior, a person who was known and respected within the sector was sought.

Pavluts informed Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) about the decision to nominate Eklons over the weekend, as well as informally informed the coalition partners. Discussions on the ministerial candidates are expected today between coalition partners.

Meanwhile, in an interview with TV3 this morning, Pavluts pointed out that no reaction has been received from the Prime Minister yet.

"I do not expect any special objections to our candidate. Respectively, the candidate could meet with factions tomorrow, but on Thursday a vote could take place in the Saeima. There is no indication that any partner has an objection," Pavluts said.

He also stated that he believes For Development would support Ilze Indriksone (NA), a candidate for the post of Minister of Economy nominated by the National Alliance (NA).
