Over 7,000 Ukrainian refugees could receive state-funded Latvian language classes by the end of the year

RIGA, May 24 (LETA) - Over 7,000 Ukrainian refugees could receive state-funded Latvian language classes by the end of the year, according to an informative report prepared by the Ministry of Culture and heard by the government today.

The Society Integration Fund (SIF) has received funding of three million euros from the state budget program Contingency Funds to provide Latvian language training for Ukrainian civilians.

The aim of the program is to provide free Latvian language classes in the amount of at least 120 hours to obtain the level of A1 Latvian language skills for Ukrainian refugees in all regions of Latvia. The target group is adults or persons over 18 years of age.
