Opposition has not managed to agree on motion of no-confidence in Riga Mayor Stakis

RIGA, May 12 (LETA) - Opposition members of Riga City Council have not yet managed to collect enough signatures to call an extraordinary council meeting and table a motion of no-confidence in Riga Mayor Martins Stakis.

Konstantins Cekusins, chairman of the Harmony political group on the city council, said that the opposition Honor to Serve Riga (GKR) group does not deem it necessary to depose the current Riga mayor whom Harmony accuses of insulting Riga residents' honor and dignity and inciting ethnic hatred. On Wednesday, GKR leader Juris Radzevics said his group would not sign the petition calling for an extraordinary council meeting.
