RIGA, May 6 (LETA) - One hundred years since the adoption of the Constitution, Latvia is a strong, democratic state governed by the rule of law, President Egils Levits said today before sending a postcard dedicated to the centenary of the Constitution to relatives of the first President of Latvia, Janis Cakste.

During a regional visit to Valmiera on Friday, Levits and First Lady Andra Levite sent a postcard and postage stamp dedicated to the centenary of the Constitution, issued by Latvijas Pasts in cooperation with the Constitutional Court, as Elina Kresa from the President's Chancery told LETA.

Levite sent the postage stamp to the Maternity Department of Vidzeme Hospital with a request that the stamp be gifted to the next newborn girl.
