Number of students to increase in Latvia in coming years - Education Ministry

RIGA, July 20 (LETA) - Based on current estimates, the number of students in Latvia will increase in the next four to five years as those born in 2007 and 2008, when Latvia's birthrate was higher, will start their studies, the Education and Science Ministry told LETA.

Commenting on the results of this year's university admissions, the ministry points out that a slight decrease in the number of new students has been observed in recent years. Nevertheless, this number has been declining slower than the birthrate.
