Number of building permits for new single dwelling houses in Latvia down 18.2% in Q1

RIGA, May 10 (LETA) - Latvian construction authorities issued 373 permits for construction of new single dwelling houses in the first quarter of this year, which was a decrease of 18.2 percent against a year before, the Central Statistical Bureau said.

Meanwhile, the total floor space of the new single dwelling house projects decreased 12.8 percent year-on-year to 71,200 square meters (m2).

In the first quarter of 2022, the Latvian construction authorities also issued 37 permits for construction of new industrial buildings and storage facilities with a total floor space of 32,400 m2. The number of such permits decreased by one while the total floor space of these construction projects declined from 59,700 year-on-year.
