Lmt Joins Project to Develop Eu Cybersecurity Strategy

RIGA, March 8 (LETA) - Latvijas Moilais Telefons (LMT) mobile telecommunications provider has become a partner in SPARTA - the European Union's cybersecurity competence network involving 44 partners from 14 countries, LMT spokeswoman Elina Lidere told LETA.

She said that LMT would provide the project with an experimental 5G platform for cybersecurity solutions, which has been created during the project in collaboration with partners to strengthen Europe's cyber-competence and working out the EU's cybersecurity strategy.

LMT CEO Juris Binde indicated that in today's world cybersecurity solutions are no less important than the physical protection of national borders. "Time and again we hear about scandalous cases where cyber criminals get past even the world's strongest institutional defense systems. This is why smart digital solutions are now as important as ever. LMT will be providing its contribution to the project as an ICT and 5G development expert and a customer service expert," the LMT head informed.
