Lithuanian PM, parlt speaker no longer want 24/7 protection

Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen and Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte want to give up their 24/7 protection.

They have registered an amendment to the Law on VIP Protection to provide 24/7 protection only for the president, while other members of the country's leadership would be protected during foreign visits, official meetings and when they directly carry out the functions they are granted protection for.

If there are threats to the security of these persons, they could also be under protection at other times, and the residence of people who are part of the country's leadership would be protected 24/7.
