Latvijas Finieris invests EUR 2 million in betulin plant

RIGA, May 5 (LETA) - Latvijas Finieris veneer producer has invested EUR 2 million in betulin extraction plant, LETA learned from the company's board member Maris Bumanis.

The company invested the company's own funds and funding from the EU structural funds.

Bumanis said that Betulin Lab produced two kinds of products - cut up birch bark which is a supply for producing betulin, and betulin itself - a powder that can be used in cosmetics, food supplements and pharmacy.

Bumanis said that the first kilograms of betulin have already been produced and the company is actively looking for clients. In Latvia, betulin is already used in producing food supplements, but there are negotiations going on with local cosmetics producers - Madara Cosmetics and H.A.Brieger who works...
