Latvian residents and companies have donated EUR 10 million in support of Ukraine

RIGA, May 6 (LETA) - Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Latvian residents and companies have donated EUR 10.2 million in support of Ukraine, and direct aid worth EUR 9.8 million has already been provided to Ukraine, Ziedot.lv charity organization's communications officer Ilze Osane told LETA.

Donations are used to provide practical assistance to the people of Ukraine. Handover of the donations is organized in cooperation with the Latvian Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry, Latvian Embassy in Ukraine and Latvian honorary citizens in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Embassy in Latvia and the Businesses for Peace initiative, as well as Ukrainian charities.

So far, Latvia has supported Ukraine with EUR 1,688,064.31 worth of medical supplies and medicines. Tactical bandages, first aid kits, prescription and over-the-counter medications, wound care products, surgical sutures, equipment for neonatal and surgical wards, ambulances, and other items were purchased for donations.

Latvia has also shipped to Ukraine EUR 2,403,634.63 worth of humanitarian aid: bread, canned food, pasta, nuts, instant porridge and others, hygiene and household products such as...
