Latvian monetary financial institutions report EUR 127.5 million in H1 profit

RIGA, July 28 (LETA) - Latvian monetary financial institutions (mainly banks) earned EUR 127.5 million in aggregate profit in the first six months of 2022, which is an increase of 6 percent against the respective period in 2021, the Bank of Latvia reports.

In June, the monetary financial institutions' profit was EUR 8.7 million.

s at June 30, 2022, the aggregate assets of the Latvian monetary financial institutions stood at EUR 25.277 billion, up 4.4 percent or EUR 1.065 billion against the end of June 2021 when their aggregate assets were worth EUR 24.212 billion.

The balance of loans issued to residents by the Latvian monetary financial institutions was EUR 12.802 billion at end-June, up 6.4 percent year-on-year. This included EUR 12.698 billion in euro-denominated loans issued to residents, up 6.5 percent year-on-year, and EUR 103.1 million worth of loans in foreign currencies, down 7.6 percent.
