Latvian imports of forestry products up 24.6% in Q1

RIGA, May 13 (LETA) - In January-March 2022, Latvia imported EUR 345.865 million worth of forestry products, which is an increase of 24.6 percent against the same period a year ago, according to information released by the Agriculture Ministry.

Timber and timber products made up most or 66.5 percent of total forestry product imports in January-March (66.4 percent a year ago), accounting for EUR 226.559 million and growing by 23 percent against the quarter of 2021.

Sawn-timber imports grew 3.9 percent year-on-year to EUR 68.87 million, round timber imports rose 14.2 percent to EUR 36.964 million, while firewood imports increased 3.4 percent to EUR 20.072 million.

Paper, cardboard and their products accounted for EUR 95.868 million of Latvia's forestry product imports in January-March, up 36.3 percent year-on-year. These products made up 27.7 percent (25.3 percent a year ago) of total forest product imports in...
