Latvian exports of forestry products up 36% in Q1

RIGA, May 13 (LETA) - In January-March 2022, Latvia exported EUR 1.018 billion worth of forestry products, which is an increase of 36 percent against the same period a year ago, according to information released by the Agriculture Ministry.

Timber and timber products made up the bulk or 88 percent (86.4 percent a year ago) of total forestry product exports in January-March 2022, accounting for EUR 895.646 million and growing 38.5 percent year-on-year.

Timber exports in the first quarter of 2022 included EUR 289.477 million worth of sawn timber, up 35.7 percent year-on-year, and EUR 116.517 million worth of firewood, down 17.9 percent year-on-year. Exports of chipboard increased by 61 percent to EUR 86.893 million, and plywood exports rose 41.3 percent to EUR 82.116 million.
