Latvian dairy company Elpa indefinitely suspends production

RIGA, May 13 (LETA) - Latvian dairy company Elpa has indefinitely suspended production, the company's board chairman Gundars Sisenis told LETA.

It not clear at the moment when the company might resume production.

Sisenis said that Elpa was forced to halt operations because of increased prices of energy, ingredients and other materials, for instance, means of production the price of which has significantly increase since they can no longer be bought in Belarus.

The board chairman said that Elpa managed to sell everything it had produced, so nothing has gone to waste.

In Sisenis' words, the dairy company has around 30 employees. Several of them have quit their jobs. The financially strained company has not been able to pay wages to its employees.
