Latvia's Russian Union calls off meeting in City Hall Square

RIGA, May 12 (LETA) - Latvia's Russian Union (LKS) has called off a meeting it had planned to stage in City Hall Square in Riga Old City after the city council banned the event, the party's co-chairman Miroslavs Mitrofanovs told LETA.

He said that LKS would appeal Riga City Council's ban in court and will go ahead with the meeting only if it is authorized by a court ruling.

Considering the ban, LKS has released a statement on social media, calling on people not to gather in City Hall Square.
