Large and Small Farms Are All Important to the State - Gerhards

RIGA, March 4 (LETA) - Farms large and small are all important to the state, Agriculture Minister Kaspars Gerhards (National Alliance) said in an interview with LETA.

All farms, regardless of their size, contribute to the national economy of Latvia. "This means local products, jobs and taxes, territorial development, recovery of degraded areas, and so on. This means life and activity in the regions. It would therefore be not correct to divide farms into large and small, as all of them are important," said Gerhards.

At the same time, it is important to create versatile and inclusive support mechanisms in the interests of Latvia, irrespective of how large or small a farm is, or what products it makes. "Support must be as equal and inclusive...
