RIGA, May 12 (LETA) - It is probable that Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) will do his best to keep the National Alliance in the government coalition, political expert Filips Rajevskis told LETA.

The National Alliance's Saeima group and board will demand that Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins fire Interior Minister Marija Golubeva (Development/For) following the events at the monument to Soviet soldiers in Riga's Pardaugava on May 9 and 10. If Karins and coalition partners do not take into account the National Alliance's opinion, the party will have to quit the ruling coalition and recall its ministers from the government.

Rajevskis noted that Karins has publicly stated that he was waiting for an explanation from Golubeva about the situation at Victory Park. According to the political scientist, the Prime Minister was quite militant in his communication.

The political experts said that it is unlikely that the Prime Minister will be a ''foundation'' for the interior minister. First of all, Karins could look at how For Development will react to the current situation. Only then will the Prime Minister make a decision that will ensure some kind of stability.

"Karins will face a huge dilemma if For Development takes a tough position, one as strong as the National Alliance. It will be difficult for Karins to decide what the best decision will be. He is unlikely to put it to a vote, because if the National Alliance, one of the parties on which the coalition stands, leaves, the internal game within the coalition will change immediately. This, for example, will give a new impetus to the Conservatives to become more aggressive and active," Rajevskis said, adding that Karins needs to see how he can "survive" for the next five months, which will not be easy.
