Health protection measures will depend on scale of Covid-19 spread - MP Terauda

RIGA, July 28 (LETA) - Measures that will be taken in the future to protect people's health will depend on the scale at which Covid-19 spreads in the population, Vita Anda Terauda, vice-chair of the Development/For group in the Saeima, told LETA.

Earlier this month, a World Health Organization (WHO) official called on European governments to prepare for a huge challenge that can be posed by a more extensive spread of the coronavirus.

sked about this WHO warning, the MP said that it is necessary to explain to the public that the current absence of restrictions does not mean that the spread of Covid-19 and infection risks are over.

lthough the rate of infections is on the rise, Covid-19 patients are not overwhelming hospitals and the healthcare institutions are able to provide necessary treatment to Covid-19 patients suffering more severe symptoms, Terauda said.
