Even Good Relations Between Countries do Not Protect From Interest of Security Services Pabriks

RIGA, Feb 26 (LETA) Even good relations between countries do not protect us from interest of their security services, said Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development/For) in an interview with commercial LNT television today.

Pabriks said this, commenting on Lithuanian intelligence report accusing China of "increasingly aggressive" espionage and calling it a security threat.

According to the minister, Latvia and Riga historically had been one of the region's intelligence and spying centers. "It means that representation of any other country who has the capacity is interested to ensure it has the maximum amount of information," said Pabriks.

Asked whether in this case the dynamics in relation to China is growing, the minister said that in the past years dynamics is growing across the world.
