EUR 13 million to be allocated to local governments to cover the cost of support they provide to Ukrainian refugees

RIGA, May 29 (LETA) - According to a draft decree from the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry, close to EUR 13 million will be allocated to local governments to cover the cost of support they provide to Ukrainian refugees.

The ministry needs these funds to compensate local governments on a monthly basis for expenses they incur supporting Ukrainian civilians residing in Latvia, including the provision of accommodation and meals, social support, education and public administration services.

The funds are to be allotted from the government's contingency funds.
