Estonia: 22 organizations sign agreement on social entrepreneurship

TALLINN, May 17, BNS - On May 10, 22 public, private and third sector organizations of Estonia signed a cooperation agreement on social entrepreneurship and innovation.

"Although Estonia's social enterprises employ around 1,800 people and generate around 45 million euros in business revenue a year, social entrepreneurship and social innovation are still in their infancy in Estonia. Building on the successes of other countries, there is reason to make efforts to put these areas in center stage," said Interior Minister Kristian Jaani, who is in charge of the domains of civil society and social entrepreneurship in the Estonian government.

The cooperation agreement on social entrepreneurship and innovation is a broader statement of intent for cross-sectoral cooperation and shows the openness and willingness of the parties to work together in the development of the field, the joint institution of Enterprise Estonia (EAS) and Kredex said in a press release.

The parties agreed to work together in four areas: creating a shared vision of social entrepreneurship and innovation, and targeted implementation of the shared vision; continued development of and assistance for support programs and measures for social entrepreneurship and innovation; development of financing measures that are appropriate in the Estonian context and facilitate social impact and...
