RIGA, May 29 (LETA) - The entire world, including NATO member countries, wants to see Ukraine independent, secure and sovereign, U.S. Ambassador to Latvia John Carwile told LETA.

The world has changed in many respects since Russia's unprovoked and repeated invasion of Ukraine on February 24 - NATO and the West are much stronger and more united than ever before, said Carwile. Ukraine, on the other hand, has put up a valiant fight against Russia, and Russia did not expect the resistance to be so strong.

Finland and Sweden will also soon be joining NATO. The United States will strongly support their accession to the alliance, emphasized Carwile.
