RIGA, May 25 (LETA) - Energy efficiency is the basis of energy security and economic development of Europe, Martins Zemitis, Deputy Head of the European Commission Representation in Latvia, said on Wednesday during a discussion on the development of a sustainable financing framework for energy efficiency.

This fact has become even more evident since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has further prompted the European Union's wish to phase out the use of Russian fossil fuels, said Zemitis.
