Audit Office issues 56 recommendations regarding state institutions' financial statements for 2021

The State Audit Office has issued a total of 56 recommendations regarding state institutions' financial statements for 2021, 18 of which deal with assessment of financing allocated for overcoming the Covid-19 crisis, the Audit Office's council member Ilze Badere told a press conference on Wednesday.

She said that 38 recommendations dealt with the accuracy of the statements and 18 with compliance issues. Four of the recommendations have already been implemented, 46 will be implemented by the end of the next financial audit, and five within two to three years. Implementation of the recommendations will improve accuracy of the financial statements, the procurement procedures, the accounting and internal control systems, and the remuneration system, as well as address other shortcomings that hinder efficient use of public funds.
