Construction of Rail Baltica railway line must be sped up - Linkaits

RIGA, May 19 (LETA) - Construction of the Rail Baltica railway line must be sped up, Transport Minister Talis Linkaits (Conservatives) said Thursday while addressing the team of Deutsche Bahn Engineering ; Consulting, LETA was told at the Transport Ministry.

The minister indicated that "railway in Latvia is being developed as the backbone of public transport, and the construction of the Rail Baltica railway line, which is being built as an international connection between the Baltic states and Western Europe, has become a top priority".

Linkaits also informed participants of the Deutsche Bahn Engineering ; Consulting management seminar about the Latvian railway system and development perspectives for the next coming years.

In his address to the Deutsche Bahn Engineering ; Consulting team, Linkaits urged them to make use of the opportunities provided by Latvia's open business environment.
