Competition Council grants permission for Tet to acquire Telia Latvija

RIGA, May 20 (LETA) - The Competition Council has issued permission for telecommunications provider Tet to acquire Telia Latvija, which belongs to Tet co-owner, Swedish telecommunications company Telia Company, the Competition Council informed LETA.

The Competition Council has authorized the acquisition, concluding that it would not strengthen Tet's dominant position or significantly impact competition in any of the affected markets.

Tet is a Latvian telecommunications operator that provides electronic communications and television services to households, companies and state and municipal institutions. The company's core business is provision of electronic communication services such as voice telephony, Internet and data transmission services. Tet also provides data center and cloud services, as well as electricity services.

Tet also has a decisive influence in other companies - Helio Media, which implements interactive television services, Citrus Solutions, which designs and builds engineering networks, Baltijas Datoru Akademija, which provides training solutions and consultations, as well as Data Experts, which provides technical support and IT security solutions.

On the other hand, Telia Latvija provides a variety of IT outsourcing services, including Internet access, data transmission, data center services, cloud services, and media solutions.
