Belarusian citizen faces prosecution for gathering intelligence on at least 17 sites in Latvia

RIGA, July 26 (LETA) - The State Security Service is seeking the prosecution of a Belarusian citizen who has allegedly been spying in Latvia for Belarus' military intelligence service, LETA was told at the State Security Service.

Officers of the State Security Service in close cooperation with the Military Intelligence and Security Service detained the Belarusian spying suspect on February 15.

ccording to information released by the State Security Service on Tuesday, the Belarusian citizen had been secretly filming and taking photos of various Latvian defense system objects, critical energy infrastructure, as well as important civilian infrastructure.
