April and May have been colder than normal in Latvia for three years in a row

RIGA, May 24 (LETA) - For three years in a row, April and May in Latvia have been colder than normal, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center informed.

From May 1 to 20 air temperatures in Latvia averaged at 9.2 degrees centigrade, which is 1.5 degrees below the average temperature in 1991-2020. Since the rest of May is also likely to be quite chilly, the average temperature of this month is expected to be more than one degree below the norm.

In May 2021, the average air temperature was 10.6 degrees, or 0.8 degrees below the norm, and in 2020 the average May temperature was 9.5 degrees, or 1.9 degrees colder than normal.
