Anti-vaccine activist and pro-Kremlin blogger released on EUR 20,000 bail

RIGA, May 13 (LETA) - Latvia's antivaccination activist and Covid-19 denier Aivis Vasilevskis who had been taken into custody for justifying Russia's war crimes, has been released on EUR 20,000 bail, LETA learned.

Vasilevskis was released from detention on Thursday.

On March 9, a court ruled to remand Vasilevskis in custody on suspicions of justification of Russia's war crimes. Previously, Vasilevskis became known as an anti-vaccination activist and Covid-19 denier. He is one of four representatives of "spiritual healing center" DVS Urantija accused of justifying Russia's war in Ukraine and slandering Ukraine. Latvian Television reported that Vasilevskis' father Ventis Vasilevskis is one of these four persons.
