Ukrainian refugees wont be left out in the cold after their support runs out in 90 days - Karins

After the end of the initial 90-day support period, Ukrainian refugees will not be left out in the cold without support, as assistance will be provided through other mechanisms, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) said today after a meeting with President Egils Levits.

According to the politician, there has been a certain misunderstanding about the support being allocated to Ukrainian refugees, and support will continue for those living with local families in their homes, who reside in municipal properties or are renting a home on the private market.

Karins explained that Ukrainian war refugees will be relocated from hotels, which is very expensive for the state, and will be offered the opportunity to use one of the three above mentioned support options.

The first option, according to the Prime Minister, provides that Ukrainian war refugees staying or continuing to stay with people or families in their homes or apartments. These refugee hosts will receive a certain amount of money...
