106 medics to join warning strike called by trade union

RIGA, July 20 (LETA) - A total of 106 medics will join the warning strike called by the Latvian Trade Union of Health and Social Care Employees (LVSADA), the trade union's vide-chairperson Liga Barina told LETA.

In her words, the 106 medical specialists have written applications, confirming that they will not be working on July 27, the day of the warning strike. The union is not accepting more applications as all information on the planned strike has been sent to the State Labor Inspectorate, Health Ministry and the secretary of the National Tripartite Cooperation Council, Barina said.

Meanwhile, around 400 people are planning to join a protest by the Health Ministry and the trade union continues to register more people willing to take part in the rally. They include physicians, medical nurses, nurse assistants, orderlies and others working in the health system.
